Delaney's Story

Delaney Corbitt was born on October 26th , 1994 in San Pedro, CA. She was delivered in an emergency C-section at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angeles after the doctors had determined in uterus that she had bi-lateral renal vein thrombosis which is basically blood clots that ruined her kidneys'. Delaney went on the waiting list for a kidney and her parents moved the family up to Northern California where they could be closer to Stanford Hospital's transplant program. On August 27, 1997 the call had come in that a kidney was found; a 7 year old little girl named Alexandria Cotti had been hit by a car while riding her bike in Hollister, CA and her parents donated her organs. The following video tells the story of these two little girls and how two families came together to form a bond that will last a life time and hopefully inspire others to register to donate as well.

Our Goal

Currently, there are 94,108 people waiting to receive a transplant in the United States, every 18 minutes another person dies while desperately waiting for a life saving organ.

You can make a difference by deciding right now to donate. Different states have different registration requirements. Please click here to find out what your state requires then register to donate if you have not already. One of the most important parts of your decision to donate is to share your wishes with your family and loved ones and let them know your decision.

Allie & Missy Von Zup

Allie & Missy Von Zup are from Southern California. Missy 14, received a heart transplant in 2005 and now her 10 year old sister Allie is in desperate need of a heart transplant as well and has been on the waiting list at UCLA Medical Center for 10 months. One family having the need for two heart transplants for two different children is devastating but with more people being aware of the need and registering in their state to donate their organs Allie’s chance for a new heart will increase.

Tim Hayes

Tim is 38 years old and lives in Virginia Beach and has been waiting for a kidney for a long time. As the result of some medical issues related to his early childhood Tim has lost function of his kidneys and must do dialysis on weekly basis which is having a dire negative effect on his overall health. Tim cannot continue down this path and must get his kidney. His mother Madeline has reached out across the country trying to bring the organ shortage to the national spotlight and you can help by registering to donate today .

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE WALK

I want to thank all of you that turned up for our 1st annual Golden Gate Bridge Walk held this past May 17th .It was a beautiful day and we had an incredible 3.4 mile walk across the bridge with numerous signs promoting organ donation and a very enthusiastic crowd in tow. Also thank you very much to Cathy Olmo and all the volunteers from California Transplant Donor Network who were our co-sponsors on the event. Stay tuned for the date for our 2009 bridge walk which will be held in the spring.

Organ-ize the Planet also had a booth at the “Escape from Alcatraz“ Triathlon on June 8, 2008 . Working with the World Elite Transplant Team we were in full force promoting organ donation. The World Elite Transplant Team is made up of 12 transplant recipients from around the world. Swimming from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco , then biking 18 miles, and running 9 miles is one of the most arduous triathlons in the world and then you throw a transplant on top of it and that is truly amazing.

Special thanks to Bill Wohl and Ray Velaska for donating the booth and Cathy Olmo and California Transplant Donor Network for supplies and encouragement.
